Frome Artists Café – First Wednesday Every Month

Open to ALL Creatives

meet & network with local artists, share events, ideas, inspire, collaborate, enjoy

Time & Place… 7.30 pm The Three Swans, King Street, Frome

Dates for 2017 are at the bottom of this page

Welcome!  The Frome Artists cafe is organised by Caroline Walsh-Waring, a locally based artist.  We have no agenda or set format, we tried that and it didn’t work, but if you have something you would particularly like to talk about or cover please do let me know and we’ll see what we can do!  It would be great to have some ad hoc talks or particular subjects to discuss.

Generally it’s a social occasion, find out what’s occurring, network, meet other artists and catch up on the gossip.  We do our best to welcome everyone, but please plunge in and let us know who you are.  We love seeing your latest pieces of work, ideas, sketchbooks, poetry and writing.

Join Frome Artists Café on Facebook (there is a direct feed on our home page) and if you want to receive the Frome Artists Café e-news direct send your details to me: Caroline Walsh-Waring.

Newsletters are now on the Frome Artists Café Newsletter page, scroll down for News on local and nearby events.

Trowbridge Museum Auction Opportunity

Plans are afoot to run an Art Auction on Friday 8th September from 6-8 pm at Trowbridge Museum. There will be a silent auction until 7.00 pm when we will open bidding on a selection of higher value pieces for about 20 minutes. Wine and nibbles would be available.

The idea of the Auction is to raise the profile of the Trowbridge Museum’s £2.6 million expansion and to do some fundraising. The money raised would be split between the artists and the fundraising for the project.

We already have the founder of the Jerwood Prize exhibiting, as well as artists from Bath Printmakers and Cloth Road.  Admission will be limited to a 100 people and would have staff monitoring numbers.

If you would like to submit work contact:

Could you be a potential Surrealist?

Open to both 2D and 3D work.  Cameron Scott is organising an exhibition of accomplished artists from the South West who fit approximately within the surrealist genre.

The theme will be restricted explicitly to this area, the aim is to attract an audience sympathetic and open to this style of work which has its roots as far back as 15th Century and Hieronymous Bosch, whose work “The Hay Wain” can be seen above. Artists such as Dali, Magritte, Ernst and many more popularised this field in the 1930s.  Abstract work will be considered, Cameron is specifically looking for artists that produce work which is far off the beaten track.

The event will be curated to ensure a high quality of work that fits appropriately within the category, curators decision will be final. Once volumes of interest are established more details will follow.  If you feel your work qualifies for this very special exhibition please contact Cameron Scott on 07976 757150 or by email on by Monday 31st July 2017.
