Frome Artists Café – First Wednesday Every Month 2018-07-25T11:50:14+00:00

Meet local creative people,

share events, ideas, inspire, collaborate, enjoy

7.30 pm Upstairs at The Three Swans, King Street, Frome

Dates for 2018 are at the bottom of this page

Welcome to The Frome Artists cafe organised by Caroline Walsh-Waring, a 2D artist living an working in Frome.

Mainly a social evening but also an opportunity to promote your events too, perhaps discuss your work and form new collaborations.  Take a look at the 2018 Frome Open Studios Brochure on this website which has contact details for all the entrants, many who regularly attend the Artists Cafe.

I do my best to welcome new people and please plunge in to let us know who you are.  Bring along your sketchbook or latest piece of work. No-one is expected to turn up every month, except me, but it would be lovely to meet you at least one or two times over the year – if only to put a face to a name.

Join Frome Artists Café on Facebook (there is a direct feed on our home page) and if you want to receive the Frome Artists Café e-news direct send your details to me: Caroline Walsh-Waring.  Past Newsletters are on the Frome Artists Café Newsletter page, scroll down for News on local and nearby events.

From Laura Rich of the Wylye Valley Art Trail

It may seem a long way off but……

The 2019 Wylye Valley Art Trail is in the planning! I hope you will be taking part again? I am able to release the dates to you all so that you can start thinking about venues, especially those which get booked up a long time in advance.

2019 is to be our tenth trail! We are going to use this a lot in our marketing and have come up with the hashtag #WVAT10. We will start introducing this to our social media pages really soon so if anyone wants to send me some updated images of their work to share to our pages throughout the next few months please do! All the usual rules apply, please send clear images with a plain background which are a good example of what you do. Please label the file if you can, it’ll save me a bit of time (which I am always grateful for).

On the theme of ‘10’ we have decided to run the dates for 10 days. And in a change to previous years, we want to try ending the trail on the bank holiday weekend instead of starting it then. This will give visitors who have children the option of coming along while their children are at school. This is based on feedback we received last time. So the official dates are:

18th – 27th May 2019

Please feel free to share these dates with anyone you think may be interested in taking part in the trail.

N.B. I might like to take part in this but would be interested in finding a new venue so if anyone is happy for me to join their venue or collaborate on something let me know.  If anyone has the same thoughts let me know and I am happy to express your interest here or discuss exhibiting together. Caroline

I have been asked by the South West Wiltshire Community Engagement Manager if any of our members would be interested in hanging some 2D work at the Nadder Sports Centre in Tisbury. They have a big empty corridor just off the main foyer where they have invested in a hanging system. The natural light there is lovely.

At the moment, as it’s a new venture, they don’t want to charge anything for the space so I thought it could be a good opportunity to use as a marketing space for the Trail. If anyone has work that they can spare prior to the trail, which we can hang there to advertise what the trail is about please let me know. Maybe one of our groups could put together a small exhibition? I can provide information to go alongside it. Anyone interested please get in touch. The work can be for sale so it’s a good bit of free promotion.
